Who We Are

Maryland Resident Agent Inc got started back in 2015 with a simple premise: to provide resident agent services to other Maryland businesses.

We saw firsthand how complicated it could be to start a business. Filing fees, processing times, this paperwork goes to the state while that one goes to the IRS and this other bit can get done after the first two but needs to be completed before you open a business bank account. So we looked at all that and said—well, what if our resident agents handled that for our clients too? Make their lives a little easier. And boom: business formation was born.

Everything else we’ve done has followed that same principle. We want to make our clients’ business lives easier. We know you didn’t start your outdoor adventure guide service, your independent coffee shop, or your home remodeling service because you really wanted to keep track of state compliance filings. (Okay, maybe some of you lawyers and CPAs did. We don’t judge!) So we’ll do what we do best, while you get on with doing what you do best.

We Work With You, For You

We’re set up right here in Oakland. Your resident agent mail isn’t getting forwarded to you from some faceless company in California. When you call us to complain about navigating SDAT, we’re right there with you. We’ll ask you how bout them O’s, we know the DMV isn’t where you register your car, and yeah, we put Old Bay on our Old Bay.

Being Maryland locals also means that our team are experts at navigating Maryland filings. Sure, there are some things we won’t touch—like your Personal Property Tax Return—but that’s because we know our lane. If you need help with your business formation, out-of-state registration, or annual report filing though? Bet.

We charge just $49 a year for resident agent service because we think it’s a fair price. Most of our corporate filings, including business formation services, come in at around $100 plus state fees. We try to keep the pricing for everything else reasonable too—not just because it’s the honest way to do business, but because we can.

We don’t have investors or shareholders looking over our shoulders trying to make us squeeze every last nickel and dime from our clients. So we don’t. We charge enough to pay our staff, cover our overhead, and think of ways to make our clients’ business lives easier.

Big Data may be the golden goose for other, bigger companies, but we believe you deserve better. We’ll never sell your information to third parties, and we do our utmost to ensure that your personally identifiable information doesn’t make its way into the hands of bad actors. We’ll give you free use of our business address when you hire us for resident agent service. You get free SSL for your website and domain privacy is included with our Business Presence service bundle.

We just don’t believe you should need to expose your private data to public records to own a business, period.

That means a few things. One, we’re focused on building services that actually benefit you. We’re not going to ask you to subscribe to our thought leadership podcast, and we won’t flood your inbox with a bunch of peppy marketing materials upselling you on products you don’t need. Two, we’re not going to give you the runaround when you reach out to us. No gimmicky, useless AI chatbots, no phone tree labyrinths or shouting for a representative only to be told, “Sorry, I didn’t understand that response.”
